Final Project #3
This piece is a gouache, a watercolor and acrylic mixture, painting of a bunch of flowers. I used four different hues, but overall six different shades and tints. Three of them were a green hue, two of them were shades and the other was a tint. In this piece I used the watercolor portion of the gouache to get the technique of the petals. I used purple, white, and black to create the petals. I then used the greens to create each individual leaf in a variety of shades and tints.
Final Project #2
This is my Dog project, where I used oil paint to recreate a picture of my dog shelby. In this painting I used a variety of hues to create the foreground, the middleground, and the background. I first started my painting by sketching out my dog on the canvas, then I started painting her face. I used multiple techniques to create this finished project; I used dry brush, blending, thinning out the paint, and layering paint. All of these techniques created the fur, the grass, the mouth, and the collar. This dog painting took me around six to eight weeks to finished.
Final Project #1
This is my figure drawing that I redid for my final. At first this was just for one assignment, but I decided I had to redo the stones on the walkway. I did this so it would create the illusion of receding space, which would make this drawing even more realistic.
Final Reflection
1.What work that you made in Art 3 are you the most proud of? Post an image and explain why.
The piece I am most proud of is my Dog Painting because I worked the hardest and the longest on it. This piece also taught me many different techniques with art in general or with oil paintings. My dog piece also showed me that I do indeed love painting and that oil is my favorite type.
2. What lesson or assignment from this class was the most challenging for you? What did you learn from it?
Most of my answer can be found in each of my explanations of my dog painting because this was the newest to me. I had never tried oil painting before, so it took me the longest and it was the most challenging. Overall I knew new and great techniques that I will continue to use in my further works.
3. What did you like about Art 3? What would you change?
I liked that this class was a smaller class, so we were a more tight knit group and got to know each other more. This also helped me vocalizing my opinions and sharing my pieces more confidently. I also liked how this class was a more opened ended class, and the rules weren't as strict; this allowed us all to be more creative, and we all made so many different pieces because we all interpreted it in a different way. I didn't like how I couldn't finish in time with the deadlines, but that also might be my fault since I tend to take my time. Overall I liked a lot about this art class and I wouldn't really change much.

What Did You Learn?
I learned how to be patient with each of my pieces, so that each of them can be in the highest quality. I also learned how to use and manipulate oil paint in my favor. I did this by using turpentine to thin out the paint, to create the light layers of the fur. Ms. Purtee also taught me how to create the illusion of something receding back into space, using warm or cool tones. Overall she taught me how to be a better painter, but overall a better artist.

Final Drawing
1. What skills or techniques did you learn during this unit? How did you apply them in your work?
I learned how to create value in my drawings by creating shadows and type of graphite. I used a wide range of graphite values in my drawing, which I used to create value through shadows and highlights. I also learned how create a more realistic body and face. This was achieved by having corrorect proportions and corrected shading.
2. How did you plan and create your art work? Write about your process; what is your finished art work, and what do you like about your art work-was it successful?
I started planning my art by picking a photo from my camera roll. I then sketched the background to get the spacing correct. After that I then started drawing my sister and creating value to make her hyper realistic. After I finished drawing her I started to draw parts of the background. Then I took a break then I drew my self in the picture. After that I finished the rest of the background, and added more value to make as realistic as possible.
My finished artwork is a drawing of my sister and I at the Tower of London a couple of years ago. I like how the drawing looks realistic with a lot of value. Because of this, my artwork is successful in my opinion.

Complaint Piece
This complaint piece symbolizes the lack of sleep teenagers get throughout high school. Nowadays high schools start early in the morning and finish up late afternoon. Where most teachers assign thirty-sixty minutes of homework each night, which can be a lot if a student has a school sport/ a travel team after school as well. The lack of time and the stress put on students causes them to not get enough sleep each night.
In my piece I used a picture of my window that I took at sunset. I altered the picture to show a sunrise instead of a sunset, to symbolize waking up. I also used the combination of prisma and pen & ink to create a mixed media. I created depth in my drawing by using wider pens to get a thicker line. I used four different prismas and blended them together to get the effect of the sunrise. I then added "6:00 A.M." to show the time the person is waking up for school.
I choose not to add color in the rest of the drawing, because I wanted the sunrise to be the main focus of the art piece.

1. What textures did you create in your drawing? How did you apply technique/formal elements to create them?
I created smooth textures throughout my whole drawing. This technique was used in the petals, stems, and the leaves. I created this technique by using a base color and one solid color, or using multiple colors and blending them to create a smooth transition. I used multiple colors on the rose to show shadows and highlights, and I used it again on the flower in the center to depict it in a realistic way. When I blended multiple colors together I used the color and a shade to create a gradient affect. After that if there was a shadow I used a darker shade or a black.
2. What did you learn during this project? Did you overcome any challenges?
I learned more tricks to make a more realistic prisma drawing. From creating better shadows and highlights, to creating more realistic proportions. I overcame one challenge, it was the solid pink petal on the middle flower. The way I created the pigment of pink I didn't like the end result. The pigment was very choppy and not to my liking. Overall I fixed it a little, but then had to overcome the hiccup and move on to another part of my piece.

Trite Symbolism Project
This is my final project, using the tree trite symbol. The tree represents nature and all things living, but this drawing is of a fallen tree, which this tree shows the fall of nature and the cycle as well.
This is my planning, which shows my three composition drawings to plan the point-of-view.
1. How did you use a trite concept in an original way?
I used a trite concept in an original way by showing the opposite the symbol symbolizes. The tree symbolizes nature and all things living, which isn't shown in this drawing. The tree has died and now doesn't resemble living nature.
2. How does your composition and other artistic decisions make your art successful?
My composition makes my art successful because it shows the living and the dead ecosystems. Which isn't represented in the trite symbolism of the tree. My artistic decisions make my art successful because, the use of vibrant colors in the nonliving replaces the trite symbol of the tree.
